Dear Freedom Fighting Community,

As you know, we have been running a summer Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools at Rainier Beach High School the past 2 years. We are excited to report that last year our scholars had 24 months of reading growth as well as growth in identity and academic mindset during our 6 week program.

In partnership with Seattle U and a city grant for “culturally responsive curriculum”, we are opening a Freedom School for rising 6th graders in the CD, renting space from Summit Sierra High School (1025 S. King Street, Seattle 98104) on King street. Our program started , but we still have room for more scholars who would like to participate.

I know you are well connected in the community, so I am attaching a flyer and if you could get the word out, I’d greatly appreciate it! Please let the people you know bring their scholar to our program at 8AM, and families can fill out paperwork when they arrive.
