Congratulations and thanks to My’Qyeirra Smalls from Rainier Beach High School and Jennifer from South Lake, who, according to program sponsors, demonstrated fantastic leadership during their participation in Seattle Tilth’s Reach ‘n’ Teach program at the Rainier Beach Learning Garden.
The Garden Reach n’ Teach in the Beach program aims to build youth leadership and provide positive opportunities for youth to engage with their community. Our youth leaders learned valuable job skills while getting paid. Reach n’ Teach leaders work with Seattle Tilth Garden Educators as teaching assistants in the after-school garden club and community center garden classes, where they learn about organic gardening and composting while helping maintain the Rainier Beach Learning Garden.
