A community conversation about how we can create and lead restorative practices in Rainier Beach that keeps our youth from being trapped in a broken “education”, “justice” and “child welfare” system.

When: Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., events starts at 6 p.m.
Who: Communities of Color living in South Seattle-King County; families directly impacted by a broken “education”, “justice”, “child welfare” system and youth of color
Why: This “education”, “justice” and “child welfare” system was never meant to work for communities of color. Another way is possible! Throughout history, African and Indigenous cultures have given us restorative, holistic, and humanizing practices that we can use to heal our communities.
Hosted by: Rainier Beach Action Coalition, The Freedom Summer Project, Ending the Prison Industrial Complex, The People’s Institute Northwest, Rainier Beach and Beautiful Safe Place for Youth (Seattle Neighborhood Group, Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative)
